Timothy "Desert Storm" Bradley Heading to Las Vegas
CATHEDRAL CITY--Local boxing star Timothy "Desert Storm" Bradley is on his way to Las Vegas for his big fight with Manny Pacquiao.
Tim bradley has a huge following here in the desert. It's his home, it's where he trains and today it's where he greeted family, friends and fans for a final good-bye before the fight of his life.
Crowds rushed to see Tim Bradley one last time before he heads to Las Vegas. The "Desert Storm" faces off against Manny Pacquiao on Saturday. This was his last stop before hitting the road.
"I'm ready to go," Boxing Champ Timothy Bradley said. "I'm ready to go I'll bring it back. It's like we all win, because we're from the desert and it's like we all win."
It's not just training and hard work but community support that's helped Bradley on his rise to fame. He's a hometown celebrity and hero. His fans have watched his career closely, waiting for this moment.
"We're excited for Tim because we know he's a good fighter and we know he's going to win," said Bradley's 9-year-old niece Miranda.
"I know he's going to win the fight because he's part of the valley, he's born here and I know he's a nice person," said Bradley fan and supporter, Hector Rodriguez.
"We came to support the champ," said Bradley fan Carlos Garcia. "We came to support him and he's going to bring the belt home, bring all those belts from Pacquio, hopefully he knocks out pacquiao and he's going to knock him out."
They wanted autographs and pictures with the homegrown boxing champ but fans also came to wish Bradley good luck. Confident he'll bring home the WBO Welterweight Championship belt.
"This is the opportunity of a lifetime. We seize this moment, the desert is definitely on the map. Anytime they come here, they'll be like that's where that champion is from, that's where Bradley is from," Bradley said.
The fight also guarantees the boxing champ a $5 million dollar pay day. Along with bragging rights for everyone at home in the valley.
Bradley's fight is Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
