Timothy Bradley's Trainer Weighs in On Controversial Decision
Timothy Bradley is home tonight and recovering from his fight with Manny Pacquiao over the weekend. The Coachella Valley native went toe to toe with Pacquio and in a stunning split decision, Bradley clenched the WBO Welterweight title.
"It was a happy moment at the time when we are in the ring," said Joel Diaz, Bradley's trainer.
But Diaz isn't celebrating just yet.
"We don't have the excitment coming home with the victory because a lot of people are taking it away from us," said Diaz
The crowd may have booed the ruiling in Las Vegas, but Bradley's supporters back home are in his corner.
"People were giving those rounds to Pacquaio when he was actually not landing anything and Tim was controling it with his jab, left hook and his angle," said Antonio Diaz, Director of the boxing club at the Indio Boys and Girls club where Bradley trains.
"It did bring a tear to my eye... you watch someone just come, nobody knows him, and all of a sudden the whole word knows him," said Alex Natividad, who trains at the boxing club.
Bradley is back in the desert recovering from a fractured left foot and injured right foot. His hometown fans are now awaiting to see him and celebrate his win.
"Tim is more for the people, regardless of what people say, he's a champ and now he's a world champ," said Natividad.
