Athletic Director Speaks Out on Student Death
PALM DESERT-- Palm Desert High School's Athletic Director is speaking out, to honor the 16-year-old student who died during water polo practice earlier this week. Christian Fernandez Morales died Tuesday night after he became unconscious during water polo practice at shadow hills high school. He died shortly after. The cause of his death has not yet been released.
Morales was an all around athlete, involved in soccer, football, wrestling, and of course water polo. Athletic Director Darol Salazar says Morales was a great athlete and a real team player. "When he was on the pool deck during meets, he'd be cheering on his teemates. He'd be the first one out there to give them a high five. He was always there for him and now the water polo and aquatic community is rallying around him and trying to help his family through this," says Salazar. There will be a carwash this saturday at Palm Desert High School from 7am-11am, to raise money for Christian Morlaes' funeral. Members of the U.S.A. Water Polo league, say they'd appreciate all the support they can get.
