Fast moving winds fueled flames today at several fires in the valley.
At a vacant hotel in Desert Hot Springs, nearly sixty fire crews worked to contain the blaze.
"It was a wind driven fire the wind was very strong as it is now pushing the fire to west to east," said Mike Marlow, Riverside County Fire Division Chief.
Crews are investigating what sparked the blaze. The dry air and high winds make for ideal fire conditions and prompted the national weather service to issue a red flag warning.
"The vegetation in the buildings are dry as popcorn. Any little spark will start a fire so we need to be extra careful, extra vigilant with open flames inside and outside," said Marlow.
A three hundred acre fire ripped through a mountaintop in Cabazon Sunday night. At one point nearly 300 firefighters helped stop the flames from spreading to nearby homes.
In Beaumont, a wildfire fire still rages on, spanning more than 2,000 acres. Fire officials expect containment by Tuesday morning.
