PALM DESERT - Riverside County investigators hope newly released information about a pair of wanted fugitives will result in new leads in two murder cases.

The Riverside County District Attorney's Office released details Tuesday on two men wanted for a pair of killings in the Coachella Valley in the late 1990s. The men are 48-year-old Jose Daniel Ostorga and 56-year-old Alfredo Morales Rosas. Both men are suspects in fatal shootings, according to Riverside County District Attorney's Office spokesman, John Hall.

Ostorga is wanted for the murder of Jose Benavidez, on Jan. 10, 1998. Benavidez was found dead from a gunshot wound in the 91100 block of Sixth Street in Mecca. Witnesses told deputies that Benavidez and Ostorga had known each other for years. The day of the shooting they had been at a
party and upon returning to the Sixth Street address, began to argue. Witnesses say Ostorga went
inside, got a gun, came back out and shot the victim several times.

Ostorga was identified by Benavidez's family and friends as the alleged shooter. Investigators say Ostorga has relatives in Mexico and El Salvador.

At the time of the shooting, Ostorga described as being 5 feet 9 inches tall, 177 pounds, with brown hair and eyes. 

The second fugitive, Alfredo Rosas, is wanted for the March 10, 1999 shooting death of Guadalupe Ojeda in Cathedral City.

Police say Ojeda was found in the 30300 block of San Luis Rey Drive with multiple gunshot wounds, and died at a hospital. He and Rosas were friends. Rosas was living at Ojeda's home.

Witnesses say they heard the two men fighting before Rosas reportedly pulled out a gun and shot Ojeda. Rosas has relatives in Cathedral City and was believed to have fled to Mexico.

At the time of the shooting, Rosas was 5 feet 4 inches tall, 136 pounds with black hair and brown
eyes.
