Three Family Members Stabbed During Domestic Disturbance
PALM SPRINGS - A domestic dispute escalated into a bloody scene early Wednesday in a Palm Springs neighborhood.
Shortly before 8 a.m. the Palm Springs Police Department received a call of a stabbing inside of a home in the 900 block of Calle Paul, according to PSPD Sgt. Mike Kovaleff.
Upon arriving, officers detained a 42-year-old male suspect outside of the home. Investigators say the suspect attacked his 73-year-old mother inside of the residence. She received a cut to her face.
Police say the suspect also attacked his 39-year-old brother who apparently tried to intervene during the attack on the mother. He was cut on his arm.
Police say the suspect exited the home, then began stabbing and cutting himself several times while both victims attempted to report the incident by calling 911. Both victims were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Police say they are looking into what led the suspect to attack both of family members for both criminal prosecution and for mental health evaluation.
Police say they are not releasing the name of the suspect at this time due to the nature of the investigation.
