Elementary School Student Brings Gun To School
CATHEDRAL CITY - A 2nd grade student at Agua Caliente Elementary School in Cathedral City brought an unloaded gun to school Thursday, according to Palm Springs Unified School District spokeswoman Joan Boiko. The incident is under investigation by Cathedral City Police as well, Boiko said.
According to a letter sent from Principal Dr. Lucy Medina to parents of students at Agua Caliente Elementary, other classmates reported to school authorities that a male student had a gun in his backpack. The student and the backpack were brought to the school's office where an unloaded handgun was found.
Cathedral City Police say the boy's uncle was arrested Thursday evening and could face multiple charges associated with the child having access to a deadly weapon.
