Gusting Winds To Move Into Coachella Valley Friday
PALM DESERT - A cooler start to wrap up the work week as far as temperatures go, but the winds will be picking up Friday afternoon into the evening.
The National Weather Service says strong winds gusting between 45 and 60 miles per hour will blow through the Coachella Valley Friday. A wind advisory will be in effect from 2 to 10 p.m.
Motorists are advised to take precautions while driving, especially in high-profile vehicles. Officials say to look out for blowing debris and sand, which could cause damage to windshields and signs, according to the NWS.
The windy weather is due to a trough moving inland to the north this afternoon and evening, creating strong onshore pressure gradients and resulting in stronger-than-normal winds through and to the east of the Banning Pass, according to the NWS.
