Puppies Abandoned in Walmart Parking Lot
PALM SPRINGS--Another box of puppies was found abandoned. This time in a Walmart parking lot. This time the puppies are all safe.
First there was a box of 7 chihuahua puppies, only 4 were alive by the time Cathedral City police found them. Now a second box, this one tossed from a car outside Walmart in Palm Springs.
"It breaks our hearts because we're here to save animals to bring love and inspiration to people with little four legged friends and when people just discard them as if they were unwanted trash it hurts us," Harvey Grusky, a volunteer at the Palm Springs Animal Shelter said.
The 7 Labrador mix puppies are about 6 weeks old, too young to be on their own. Like the puppies in Cathedral City, these little ones were left outside in the scorching heat. This time some good Samaritans picked them up before it was too late.
The puppies were taken to the Palm Springs Animal Shelter where they will remain in foster care until they are old enough to be adopted.
"The proper way to handle a situation where you have puppies or kittens that are unwanted is one, you call us," Tonya Petrovna, a board member at Friends Of The Palm Springs Animal Shelter, said. " Call the Palm Springs Animal Shelter. You bring it in no questions asked, except maybe where you found them, or the situation. You shouldn't feel guilty. You shouldn't feel that there's no one to help you because we're here to help as well."
Two more puppies, these ones are terrier mixes were surrendered to the shelter, a welcome alternative to the cruelty of abandonment.
