THERMAL - At least three people are forced from their home Monday afternoon following a fire in Thermal.

According to a Riverside County Fire Department spokesperson, three adults were displaced when a mobile home, several outbuildings and the surrounding brush caught fire.

The blaze broke out just before 3 p.m. in the 85200 block of Avenue 66. Fire bosses say 27 firefighters worked on the fire which destroyed a single-wide mobile home and some outbuildings and burned a quarter of an acre of brush, prompting authorities to close the road at Harrison Street.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.

Firefighters tell KMIR6 that fighting a blaze in these extreme hot temperatures adds to already intense nature of their work. Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire.

The Red Cross is assisting those displaced by the fire.
