Sheriff Says Probe of San Bernardino Gov't Ongoing
SAN BERNARDINO (AP) — San Bernardino County sheriff's officials say they and other law enforcement agencies have been investigating possible criminal activity within the city's government.
In a release Thursday, Sheriff-Coroner Rod Hoops says the investigation began at the request of city officials several months ago.
Hoops says the investigation is ongoing and declined to release any details.
He says the San Bernardino Police Department and district attorney's office are also involved in the multi-agency investigation.
Earlier this week, elected officials in San Bernardino cited budget woes in authorizing the city attorney to seek federal bankruptcy protection. That makes it the third California city poised to do so in less than two weeks.
