Library Copper Panel Theft Suspect Arrested
RANCHO MIRAGE - Riverside County Sheriff's deputies say they've arrested a man suspected of stealing copper panels from the Rancho Mirage Library.
Steven Cain, of Palm Desert, was booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio for grand theft, felony vandalism, possession of stolen property, and commercial burglary, according to the Riveside County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies received information from a metal recycling business in Banning that a man sold sheets of copper at the business. Investigators confirmed the copper sold to the recycling business fit the description and size of the copper sheets stolen from the library on July 2.
Sheriff's deputies say 45-year-old Cain was identified as the the man who sold the copper to the business in Banning. Investigators arrested Cain at his home in Palm Desert.

Tips can remain anonymous and may lead to a cash reward. Persons identified or named as suspects of a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
