Wet Weather Sprinkles Coachella Valley
It is certainly surprising to see rain several days here in the desert in the middle of July.
Most areas in the Coachella Valley just got sprinkles, but the storm was stronger along the I-10 east of Desert Center.
Strong gusts of wind, raindrops, thunder and lightning made driving more difficult.
"I've never seen this weather before here, its unbelievable when you see it because you can barely hold onto your truck when you're driving."
Ernesto Ruiz is driving a semi truck from Phoenix to LA and drove through some bad weather.
"Cars back there on 86 south, they went out of the roadway, and a lot of accidents I saw, too many accidents today," said Ruiz.
Ruiz says people need to slow down on the road in this weather.
But the cloudy skies and rain did provide some beautiful sights like sunbursts and this rainbow hovering over the valley.
In Palm Springs, the outdoor movies under the stars was going forward, rain or shine.
"My trusty umbrella which I think I've used three times since I moved here ten years ago, and I probably won't need it tonight, it looks like it will be clearing up. I didn't want to miss the movie, so I brought it," said Palm Springs resident, David Nyhus.
Many people braved the possibility of rain to watch a movie under the stars with Marilyn Monroe.
And the humid weather didn't deter them.
"Nope not at all. Not at all, this is nothing, compared to Vancouver, we're not worried about rain," said Vancouver, BC resident, Gwyn MacGregor.
So families gathered on the grassy- slightly damp - lawn for a movie night under the clouds and stars.
