Security Guard Shot in Cathedral City
CATHEDRAL CITY - A security guard was shot several times outside a business complex in Cathedral City last Saturday.
Shortly before 8 p.m. police responded to several calls of shots fired in the area of Rancho Vista Plaza located at 32220 Rancho Vista . When offices arrived on scene they discovered a man down in the parking lot. The man turned out to be a security guard working for the business complex. Police say, the victim was shot several times in the torso, but was conscious.
Investigators on the scene were able to get information about the suspect and what happened from the security guard before he was taken to a nearby hospital.
The security guard told police he contacted the suspect who had been on the property, in a stairwell, drinking alcohol. The suspect spoke to the victim, but then charged at the victim and shot him several times with a unknown caliber handgun. The suspect then fled the scene into the residential area west of the location.
Police Officers searched for the suspect with the assistance of a Riverside County Sherifff's K9 unit but they were unable to locate the suspect.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 30-35 years of age, 5'7 to 5'9, about 180 to 200 pounds. He was wearing black pants or shorts, and a black long sleeve shirt. The suspect had a shaved head and is armed with an unknown caliber handgun.
