Coachella Fest promoters, Goldenvoice, will be sailing this year with a music festival at sea.
All aboard!
The S.S. Coachella will sail the ocean late this year with a boat-load of music lovers.
"I think that's a great idea, I do, I really do. I think that listening to the music that Coachella Fest offers, I think that would be a great opportunity for people to enjoy a cruise setting," said Palm Springs resident, Xiomara Puentes.
Anticipation was building with Goldenvoice's cryptic message that read only, Tuesday 6PM.
People weren't sure what to expect.
"I heard that they might be moving Coachella, I heard that," said Palm Desert resident, Rodney Cooper.
Others thought maybe it would be the 2013 line-up, or announcing times for ticket sales.
Instead, the S.S. Coachella news swept into town.
"I think they need to do it more places, like everywhere, Coachella is a big thing, actually more people come down here just for Coachella than any other event," said Cooper.
And on our KMIR6 Facebook page, mixed reaction.
Dan says, "Wow, so many festivals, so many non headliners! I'll pass."
Eric says, "Rad!! Sleigh bells rad! Girl talk rad!! Cruise rad!"
Black Belt Golf says, "How does this bring money to the valley? I vote no."
Palm Desert resident, Max Sewell said, "I saw it on Facebook and I saw Dj Alpha Alpha, I've heard of him, that's the only one though."
We asked if this music cruise takes attention away from the valley's Coachella Festival.
"A little bit, but I still think it would be a good thing to experience because Coachella is so much fun," said Sewell.
So it's anchors away, the S.S. Coachella will embark on a musical journey.
Wednesday night at Indio city council, the Coachella Fest ad hoc committees will be discussing their latest developments.
