Monsoon Moisture Pushes Rain into Valley
The Coachella Valley is under a flash flood watch Tuesday from 11 am to 11pm.
And Monday night, portions of the eastern valley got a little rain.
It is sticky and humid outside, and expect that to continue through Tuesday.
Drivers faced some slick roads on Interstate 10 heading towards Phoenix.
Monsoon moisture is pushing into the valley, bringing with it humidity and rain.
Drivers navigated through large puddles at the Cactus City rest area off Interstate 10.
"You know it's really weird, but actually we need it because we were real dry over here, not this area but Phoenix, we love it," said Arizona resident, Manuel Lara.
But the slippery conditions do worry Manuel as he drives home.
"Absolutely be careful, don't drive too fast, and pay attention," said Lara.
Palm Desert resident, Daniel and his sister Frida, traveled up to Vista Point on Highway 74 to enjoy the cloudy view.
"It's humid and hot. It's nice to be in when the rain is coming, it rained a little, like little droplets but that's all."
And storms could dampen the valley again on Tuesday.
Daniel and Frida welcome the rain.
"I like it, because I like the smell of the rain, it smells earthy."
Also enjoying the scent of the humid desert, Ruel and Sean are visiting the valley for the first time.
"The smell in the air is amazing too, you don't smell this anywhere else," said Connecticut resident, Sean Rathpun.
And they are enjoying the view of mountains cloaked by high clouds.
"It's beautiful, absolutely amazing, it is beautiful, never seen this part of California before."
And while we might think it feels humid, Ruel says this is nothing compared to where he lives, Atlanta.
"This is very dry, I'm used to about 100 percent humidity during this time of year, 100 degrees, 100 percent humidity," said Georgia resident, Ruel McFarland.
So people and pets took the opportunity to enjoy this weather while it lasts.
Once again, there is a flash flood watch for the Coachella Valley Tuesday from 11am to 11pm.
