One by one, they were loaded into the Wings of Rescue. With a chance to find a forever home just a few hours away in Oregon.

 

"We want to make sure that these dogs to go to good homes. We don't want them sitting. It's hot here we know that Oregon has a shortage of smaller and medium dogs and we know that they'll be placed with great families," said Jaime Rook a Volunteer at the Palm Springs Animal Shelter.

 

The lucky bakers dozen wil be taken to shelters in Oregon. The Friends of the Palm Springs Animal Shelter arranged the send-off to ease over crowding.

 

"It's great to watch that plane take off knowing we've saved lives, that's what we're here for, stay with us, stay tuned for the next one it's going to be even better," Tanya Petrovna, Board Member for the Friends of the Palm Springs Animal Shelter said.

 

This journey of hope fell short for one little pup named Hulk. He didn't fit in the plane. So Hulk is staying at the Palm Springs Animal Ahelter, waiting for someone to take him home.

 

"It's extrememly rewarding," Yehuda Netanel, a pilot for Wings Of Rescue said. "Sometimes you get to meet all the parents and you get to meet the new family members at the airport and that's extremely rewarding."

 

As for the others -- in Oregon they'll make their way to shelters and families eagerly awaiting their arrival.
