Woman Attacked While Jogging in Cathedral City
CATHEDRAL CITY - Police are investigating an attempted sexual assault of a woman jogging in Cathedral City Wednesday.
The 29-year-old woman was attacked while jogging in a residential neighborhood on Tachevah Drive around 8:30 p.m. according to the Cathedral City Police Department.
The suspect emerged from behind some bushes but she managed to fight off the assailant said Sgt. Carl Wolford.
"He knocked the woman down and got on top of her, attempting to sexually assault her and prevent her from calling for help," said Sgt. Wolford.
The woman punched the suspect in the head and screamed, causing him to get off of her and flee.
The suspect was described as a Hispanic male between 17 and 19 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall with a medium build. He is bald and wore blue gym-style shorts, a tan short-sleeved pullover shirt, high white socks and black shoes.
