INDIO - Funeral services were held Saturday in Indio for a staple of the Coachella Valley. Family and friends of Jim Porras gathered for a memorial at Destiny Church. Porras was a teacher and professional volunteer at Coachella Valley High School for 17 years. He was part of the Coachella Valley Teachers Association and its bargaining committee.
He is survived by his wife Linda and son Ryan.
Porras was 59-years-old.
