Benefit Dinner Raises Money For Killed Biker's Family
LA QUINTA - Just over one week ago we told you about a tragic incident where two bike riders were struck by a driver in La Quinta. One of the bicyclists died. Now, friends of the victim are raising money to help the family through these tough times.
On Saturday August 4, 41-year-old Mark Ledbetter and a close friend were struck by a driver on Country Club Drive. Ledbetter died at the scene. Today friends and family gathered to raise money with an Italian lunch that included pasta, salad and dessert at Southwest Community Church. All the money raised by the benefit dinner will to Mark's wife Mary and their son Tice to help pay for funeral costs and Tice's education. More than $1,300 had been raised. The goal is to raise $15,000.
If you would like to contribute, but weren't able to attend the benefit dinner, donations can be made at any Wells Fargo Bank location. The account is "the Mark E. Ledbetter Memorial."
