Fallen Soldier Laid to Rest
CATHEDRAL CITY- A local hero was laid to rest today.
Hundreds of people came out to say goodbye to Cathedral City soldier and Chief Warrant Officer 2 Suresh Krause.
Krause died August 16th, when the black hawk helicopter he was piloting crashed in Afganistan.
"He gave the ultimate sacrafice. His priorities in life was God, country and family," said family friend and Cathedral City councilman Chuck Vasquez.
Krause recieved the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and Combat Action Badge today.
"He was just a tremendous individual. A young man full of courage and full of life and filled with determination and he died serving and protecting our freedoms and that's how he'll be remembered," said Krause's uncle Brody Schmidt.
In rememberance of his service, Krause's family has set up a scholarship to honor him. The funds will go to help aspiring pilots.
