COACHELLA VALLEY-- It's the start of a long holiday weekend, which means there will be a crackdown on drinking and driving. California Highway Patrol Officers say it's one of the busiest travel times of the year, so they'll be out in full force.
C-H-P says in addition to the dozens of DUI arrests last year, there were also 8 collisions, 4 of which were caused by a drunk driver.
"It's also a big weekend for DUI's and collisions unfortunately. Here in the area, we typically arrest about 20 people for driving under the influence every labor day weekend for the last several years," says Officer Joe Zagorski.
There will also be multiple dui checkpoints across the valley throughout the weekend..
