Eagle Canyon Dam To Be Built
COACHELLA VALLEY-- Business owners in Cathedral City affected by last weeks flooding got some great news today. Riverside County Supervisor John Benoit says building a new dam is top priority. Construction on the Eagle Canyon Dam is scheduled to begin next spring.
The Riverside County Flood Control District will be working to get the $10 million flood protection project completed in less than a year from the time it starts construction. Benoit says the money has been in the account for the flood disrtict for some time, to do the project.
Benoit says officials have been preparing for construction of the Eagle Canyon Dam, and they'll start breaking ground in the spring. Local business owners say they're thrilled.
"I just feel really grateful that they did what they said they were going to do, and I'm very very pleased. I'm a happy merchant!" says Caroldean Ross.
Supervisor Benoit says construction will start in March of 2013.
