Disappointing Jobs Report
PALM SPRINGS-- A disappointing jobs report has President Obama on the defensive today, as the presidential candidates campaign in Iowa and New Hampshire. The report shows slower than expected job growth, which could be a determining factor in this election. Many Americans are unemployed and dissappointed by the lack of jobs created this month, and today's jobs report didn't help. The unemployment rate fell to 8.1% from 8.3% in July. Also iIn July there were 140,000 jobs added and in August, only 96,000 were added. But the local business owners we spoke with say they're not affected. "We are seeing that people are still spending money when they like to spend it," says Larry Abel. "We have certain numbers- and we're up to snuff but i know there are a lot of businesses out here suffering right now.Alexis But even with these grim numbers, the white house contunies to be optimistic saying, "Today's employment report provides further evidence that the U.S. Economy is continuing to recover."
