Woman Arrested on Felony Hit and Run
PALM SPRINGS - A woman has a sobering weekend after she allegedly sideswips a couple on a motorcycle.
According to Palm Springs police, around 2 a.m. Saturday morning 20 year old Antonia Contreras of Mecca was driving on South Palm Canyon Drive near Mesquite Avenue, when she left her lane and went head-on toward a motorcycle in oncoming traffic, clipping the motorcycle and then speeding off.
The driver of the motorcycle was a 21 year old man and his passenger, a 19 year old woman, both from Indio lost control and crashed. They were rushed to the hospital with moderate to severe injuries.
Moments later, police searched the area and located Contreras in her 2011 Volkswagon Jetta and arrested her on felony DUI and felony Hit and Run.
Police are asking anyone that witnessed the crash to come forward.
