SKY VALLEY--Thursday night we reported on your KMIR 6 news that police were responding to call of an assault with a deadly weapon. Now after a 2-day search police have made a gruesome discovery in Sky Valley.
A call came into police of a possible lovers quarrel Thursday. When they arrived at the home they could already tell something wasn't right. There were obvious signs of a struggle but no one was home. Police launched a full out search of the desert.
Finally Friday morning, the body of a female victim was discovered in a shallow grave.
Marilyn Halpenny says her husband answered a bizarre knock at the door Thursday evening, a man asked to use the phone. He needed to call 911. He said a woman had come to his home asking for help.
"He said that she'd been stabbed and that a man had come after her with a shotgun," Halpenny said.
Marilyn heard commotion that evening. When she got home police were combing the area. What she didn't know is they were looking for a man they believed was armed and dangerous.
Police searched a home on Hot Springs Road and found clear signs of a struggle, a broken gate, but no one was inside.
"We started searching for a suspect and a victim and we were led to another house located on Longvue Road where we found a suspect barricaded in the house," Riverside County Sheriff's Department Corporal Angel Ramos said.
Police surrounded the home but the suspect fled. Investigators caught and arrested, 46-year-old Carl Perdock. He was booked on murder charges, but the search continued Friday for the victim
Investigators say they found the body of a female victim in a shallow grave at a home on Longvue Road.
"We believe it's a fresh grave but other than that i'm going to wait for the coroners and investigators to determine that," Corporal Ramos said.
Investigators aren't saying how the woman died and they haven't released her identity.
