Woman Speaks up About Stage IV Breast Cancer

INDIAN WELLS-- During this month, you're likely to see more pink ribbons, breast cancer walks and more stories about breast cancer survivors, but one valley woman says all of it misses a picture: People dying with stage IV breast cancer.
Six years ago, Nancy Davis was told she only had two more years to live. She has stage IV breast cancer. Since she's been diagnosed, she says she's been pushed out of breast cancer groups. She says certain established groups celebrate survivors but provide little support for people dying of the disease.
"They don't want to think about dying from cancer and rightfully so.... but I'm a perfect example that it did happen to me," said Davis.
There's no cure for breast cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, 40 thousand people this year will die from this disease. Davis and other advocates fought for a national day dedicated to stage IV breast cancer-- and they won in 2009. October 13th is the national day.
Nancy blogs about her experiences, pushing for more research and attention to stage four cancer, rather than just prevention and mammograms.
