THOUSAND PALMS - A Cathedral City man is arrested following accusations of him pushing a 9-year-old soccer player to the ground then kicking a referee as well, all because the suspect did not like the call made on a play, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

The incident was reported around 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

Rafael Delfin, 38, was arrested on suspicion of battery on a child and the referee. The boy was sent to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The referee was not injured. County investigators say Delfin allegedly kicked the ref in the leg.

Sheriff's deputies say Delfin, a spectator, allegedly ran into the soccer field at the Thousand Palms Community Park in reaction to a call the referee made during the match.
