Senators Call for Investigation into Soaring Gas Prices
California drivers are paying a record-high average of $4.66 a gallon, prompting state lawmakers to step in.
Senator Dianne Fienstein called on the Federal Trade Commission to investigate possible price manipulation. Senator Barbara Boxer is asking the Department of Justice to do the same.
Meanwhile, analysts say drivers should see some relief in the next week, as more gas supply becomes available due to Governor Jerry Brown's order to release winter-blend fuel. Analysts say the sale of the cheaper gasoline should drop price 15 to 20 cents.
