CATHEDRAL CITY-- It has been a year full of layoffs and cutbacks in Cathedral City, but at the state of the city address Mayor Kathy DeRosa said she's optimistic about where the city is heading.

 
"We are coming out of it and Cathedral City has made some significant changes. We have heard the cry of the public, we have heard their call for pension reform, wich we have done. We have also heard that they want us to live within our budget, which we are doing.
 
The mayor noted the city's successs in attracting new businesses and she said economic growth is the top prioprity. The mayor also said that despite the cuts, crime in the city is stable. She noted that there has been no reported homicides in the city in 2012.
