Things Heat Up in 36th Congressional District Race
Released on Tuesday, this photo shows Democratic candidate Dr. Raul Ruiz in a courtroom following a 1997 arrest in Massachusetts. This photo was sent to Kmir6 news from the Mary Bono Mack campaign.
It shows a young Raul Ruiz in a courtroom after being arrested for his part in a protest at Plymouth Rock. He was protesting the government's treatment of Native Americans since the pilgrims arrived.
Ruiz's spokesman says quote, "It's absolutely shameful that Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack -- who represents thousands of Native Americans -- would attack Dr. Ruiz for voicing support for Native American heritage."
A Bono Mack spokesman released this statement, "these radical, anti-American activities led by Raul Ruiz including anti Thanksgiving protests, and supporting FBI killer Leonard Peltier for a span of six years brings the whole legitimacy of his candidacy into question It certainly explains the support he's received from Sean Penn, the Hugo Chavez apologist and why the infamous left wing billionaire Soros family have invested so much money into his cause."
Charges were never actually filed against Ruiz. His campaign says he was actually beaten by police while protecting an elderly Native American man when the protest turned violent. Mary Bono Mack's campaign says some folks in the law enforcement community here are outraged and contacted the Congresswoman's campaign office.
And join us Friday night here on Kmir6 starting at 6:30 p.m., as both Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack and Dr. Raul Ruiz face-off in a live debate. You don't want to miss it.
