SKY VALLEY-- Developing news in a horrific murder investigation, that now includes accusations of torture. Carl Richard Perdock sits in jail accused of killing his 33-year-old ex-girlfriend, Arianna Villarreal last month. Then burying her in a shallow grave in Sky Valley.

Court documents just released, in the Perdock case, reveal a violent scene and gruesome death in Sky Valley. Now if he's found guilty, he could be eligible for the death penalty.

Perdock is accused of punching Villarreal several times before stabbing her repeatedly with a scissor and a pencil, then stuffing her body in a sleeping bag and burying her at a home on Longvue Road.

We tried to speak with the homeowners who according to court documents called authorities. They aggressively asked us to leave the property and didn't want to talk about the murder case.

Maria Lopez lives just down the street from where Villarreal lived and died. In the 29 years she's lived on Hot Springs Road, Lopez says this is by far the worst crime she's ever heard of.

"When you have the police two planes and the helicopter the you're concerned. You kind of worry because you don't know," said neighbor Maria Lopez.

Court documents show Villarreal's current boyfriend called 9-1-1 on September 27Th, claiming Perdock was assaulting Villarreal.

The boyfriend told police Perdock showed up at his house with Villarreal. She had a bag over her head.

The boyfriend reported Perdock beat Villarreal with brass knuckles, while yelling - "I'm going to kill you" before fatally stabbing her.

Perdock faces murder and assault charges--and charges he intentionally tortured his victim before killing her.

Perdock's arraignment is next Tuesday in Indio.
