Proposition 37
INDIO - Proposed labeling of genetically modified organisms or GMO's" was the topic of a forum held in Indio Thursday night.
Proposition 37 has been labeled as a complex and passionate subject among California voters this year.
Thursday's forum was held at the Heritage Palms Club House and was hosted by a number of local agricultural groups.
Supporters of Proposition 37 have pointed at studies showing that lab rats fed GMO food suffered from multiple tumors and sterilization While those opposed to Proposition 37 have said there are no health risks involved and the burden of labeling could cost the retailers.
The event was designed to inform citizens about the facts, so that when they hit the ballot box November 6th they will be well informed on genetically modified foods.
A recent LA Times poll showed California voters were for Proposition 37 by a 2-to-1 margin.
