PALM SPRINGS--Break out those winter coats. It looks like winter has finally arrived here in the desert. Rain and even snow fell steadily and it's just in time for the holidays.

Still the cold weather isn't stopping folks from enjoying the much anticipated chilly weather.

"Today's very cold," said Palm Springs resident Suzy Koga.

Despite the rainy weather, Suzy was out for a 3 mile run.

"I've got my hoodies and once I start moving I'll be OK," Koga said.

In Palm Springs John Beaver says this summer was the worst ever. So he's taking advantage of the sweater weather, soaking up the view of a very cloudy Mount San Jacinto, umbrella in hand.

"It's been warm for way too long and we deserve this. We need the snow pack. We need the rain. We need our wild flowers to bloom in March so this is g-d given definitely," John Beaver said.

At the base of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway the rain fell steadily. Clouds covered the mountain leaving near zero visibility. Still people came to check out the view and check out the first snow fall of the season.

The fog did put a bit of a damper on some plans.

"I was hoping to get up on the tram and get some shots up there but with it all being fogged in, it's a little tough to do," said visitor Ron Eggers.

Others came dressed and ready for the snow, still falling at the top of the tram.

"It's cold today. Snow day. I mean, who thinks about snow in Palm Springs? So we came up here today," Reggie Edmond said.

A snow day and cold day making the holiday that much sweeter.
