The Great Santa Run in Palm Desert
What's red, white and has a beard?
Saturday it was the many participants in the Great Santa Run and Kris Kringle Walk in Palm Desert.
What's more merry than Santa Claus?
A whole herd of Santa's running together, with family, friends and pets.
"Santa Claus, seeing this many Santa's together is awesome," said Cathedral City resident, Michael Maloney.
The Maloney family put on their Santa suits for a special reason.
"It makes it special because of our daughter with Down Syndrome. It's pretty exciting to see the support of everybody getting together for such a great cause," said Rosario Maloney.
The walk/run benefits We Care Dental Center in Rancho Mirage.
They provide free dental services to developmentally disabled children and adults, as well as low-cost dental services for veterans and seniors.
"I've never done any of them, I thought it'd be for a great cause, and just a goal for myself, and it was really fun, I enjoyed it," said La Quinta resident, Dotsy Marquez.
Actors Chris Burke and Lauren Potter are co-chairs of the event.
"It's important to see tons of fans getting a lot of pictures of me and my good friend, Chris," said Potter, who plays Becky on Glee.
And many folks from our station came to support the Santa Run, including KMIR6 Anchor Gino LaMont, and his children Parker and Hudson.
"Happy Holidays from all of us at KMIR6 News!" said the LaMonts.
The Great Santa Run benefited a great cause, "All the proceeds go towards the dental center. and it brings awareness to our developmentally disabled population, and it helps everybody, and I think that it being Christmas puts everybody in a good mood," said Marianne Benson, co-founder of Desert Friends of the Developmentally Disabled.
"Happy Christmas from Desert Arc," said Paul Malonay.
This was the 2nd Santa Run.
It will be a yearly event, so maybe the real Santa should join us next time.
"Absolutely and bring many many gifts," said Marquez.
