Teachers in Utah Training for Concealed Carry
West Valley, UT - One idea gaining traction in the aftermath of the Connecticut school shooting involves letting teachers carry concealed weapons.
In Utah on Thursday, one group offered the necessary training for teachers free of charge. The Utah Shooting Sports Council hosted a training course required for any state resident who wants a concealed weapon permit.
Attendees received lessons in gun safety, self-defense tactics and non-firearm options for protection. The council says its approach works and some teachers are open to the idea of carrying to protect others.
More than 200 people, including teachers, showed up for a course that usually draws 40 or 50 participants.
