COACHELLA - A 2-year-old died, and another person was sent to hospital after a major collision on Highway 86 in Coachella on Thursday afternoon.
Three vehicles and a big rig truck were involved in the lunchtime accident on 86, south of Avenue 50, which backed up traffic for over a mile.
The 2-year-old was declared dead at the scene, while one other person was sent to hospital with what were described as moderate injuries. Three other people involved in the accident refused treatment.
The names of those involved have not been released.
