PALM SPRINGS - A pedestrian is hit and killed just before 6 p.m. Tuesday night.
Police responded to south Palm Canyon Drive just north of Avenida Palmera to reports of a person hit by a car. When officers and paramedics arrived on scene they found an elderly woman dead. A preliminary investigation revealed that the woman had allegedly been walking outside of the crosswalk as she made her way across Palm Canyon. The driver of the car stayed until help arrived. No word if alcohol was a factor.
The cause of the accident is under investigation. Anybody with information on this accident is asked to contact the Palm Springs police department.
