LA QUINTA- After months of anticipation, the Humana Challenge officially kicks off. Pro golfers were practicing on the driving range Monday as a few dozen fans watched. Organizers spent the day setting up chairs and signs, and making any finishing touches before the Celebrity Pro Am starts Wednesday and the professionals play for $1 million beginning Thursday.
"We got a great field here…this is when it really starts coming together when we've got all the PGA coming in and all the sponsors," said Bob Marra, CEO of the Humana Challenge.
For decades the golf tournament has been knowns as the Bob Hope Classic, before Humana in partnership with the Clinton foundation took over sponsorship last year.
