It was all about the ladies Friday, the Humana Foundation also focuses on female health.
"We're all about support of women, and women's health and children's health, family health is really important to us, in fact our three key giving priorities are childhood health, intergenerational health, how mothers and children can work together to improve their health and active lifestyle," said Virginia Judd, executive director of the Humana Foundation.
And the Humana Foundation helped families get active by building a playground in Desert Hot Springs.
"We did that in partnership with Boys and Girls Club, and with Kaboom, and there were lots of women there, and lots of kids, we had 380 community volunteers and Kaboom tells us that's a record number," said Judd.
Women are getting the message about health at the Humana Challenge.
"Today is a special day for all of us to remember that we have to stay healthy," said Palm Desert resident, Elsa Rivas.
Rivas is already winning prizes for being healthy.
"You have to do 5,000 steps, go pedal some bikes and do other things, and I conquered," said Rivas.
Team 1010 KXPS sports radio talk show host, Julie Buehler, says golf is a great way to get women active.
"I think the more women that are involved in the game of golf, the better the game of golf is, I know at the LPGA some of those strokes and swings are some of the most beautiful in all of golf, so women and the game of golf go hand in hand," said Buehler.
Friday was KMIR6 KPSE My13 Women's Day, Saturday is Humana Challenge Military Appreciation Day, and Sunday will be Barbara Sinatra Children's Center Kid's Day.
