DESERT HOT SPRINGS- Police are on the hunt for a would-be robber in Desert Hot Springs.

The attempted robbery happened just as the sun was going down Sunday night at a Chevron gas station parking lot. The suspect tried to steal a motorcycle that was strapped to the back of a truck. The owner saw the suspect and confronted him. The two brawled before the suspect took off. Witnesses called police and surveillance cameras even got a grainy glimpse of the man, but police have been unable to identify him. As police investigate, they are advising the public to remove opportunities for thieves.

"Place those valuables away where they are not easily seen and if someone is seen breaking into a vehicle, we ask that they not stop the suspect because it can lead to them being injured. Call the police department and we can handle it," said DHS Detective Sgt. Brian Link.

The suspect is described as weighing between 170 to 200 pounds, dark complexion, in his thirties and wearing a leather jacket.
If you have any information you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 760-341 STOP.
