PALM DESERT--The Palm Desert library is finally re-opening after an extensive re-model. For the past 10 months the Palm Desert library has been operating out of a space inside the Westfield Mall. Now, finally, a new chapter is beginning.

Book lovers are already scouring the shelves for their favorites. The library now boasts a brand new children's section, a new space just for teens, and 42 computers instead of the 12 they previously had.

"Well I think it's just updated. It's refreshed. It looks like a more modern library and I think the computers will have the most impact. Now we have so many electrical outlets for people who want to use their laptops here and wifi. Pretty much every table has an electrical outlet, so people will be able to bring their own computers. I think just the technology is what's going to make the difference," City Librarian, Lisa Brock said.

The library plans on holding computer classes and other programs in the newly built classrooms. There's also an outdoor patio and plenty of space to kick back and read a good book, or plug in your laptop and get to work.

The library will host a ribbon cutting ceremony on January 31 when it officially opens, but the space is already back in business and ready for readers.
