Police Secure "Hoax Bomb" In Palm Springs Neighborhood
PALM SPRINGS - A suspicious device was found on a Palm Springs roadway Sunday, resulting in a road closure for at least 3 hours. The device was reported by a passerby around 10 a.m., said Palm Springs Police Sgt. Mike Kovaleff.
Police secured the devicie around 1 p.m. and are calling it a "hoax bomb", according to a Palm Springs Police Sergeant at the scene.
Police closed off a section of San Rafael Drive between Avenida Caballeros and Hermosa Drive during the investigation. The Riverside County Sheriff's bomb squad was called to the scene to help secure the device and investigate the situation.
The roadway was cleared and reopen shortly after 1 p.m., according to Palm Springs Police.
