Coachella Valley Reacts to Immigration Plan
PALM SPRINGS- California has the largest population of undocumented immigrants out of any state. In the Coachella Valley, thousands of people stand to benefit from immigration reform.
President Obama's plan would create a path to citizenship for 11 million undocumented immigrants. Coachella Valley lawyer Karan Kler believes immigration overhaul could affect nearly 40 percent of the Coachella Valley.
"I think the Coachella Valley is going to be one of the largely affected populations because of the number of agriculture workers we have as well as the number of people who have come here over the years and even if they are undocumented their families may not be," said Kler.
It may be awhile before the president sees a final bill, as both sides of Congress hash out the details.
