"Dreamgirls" Sparkles at the McCallum Theatre
PALM DESERT--The curtain goes up on the Tony and Academy Award winning musical "Dreamgirls" Friday night at the Mccallum Theatre.
The sensational new stage production is full of onstage joy and backstage drama, and of course amazing costumes. One thousand costumes sparkle on-stage and off.
KMIR 6 got a special look backstage at the extravagant designer costumes and what it takes to get the actors all glamed up sometimes with only 8 seconds between scenes.
"It's a glamourous show. Our designers, award-winning designers. They want to give you an authentic look at the time period. Our show is set in the 60's and 70's and we give it to you authentically," Costume Coordinator and Associate Designer, Joy Marcelle, said.
"Dreamgirls" tells the story of an up-and-coming, 1960s singing girl group, and the triumphs and tribulations that come with fame and fortune. "Dreamgirls" takes the stage Friday at the Mccallum Theatre and runs through Sunday February 3rd.
