COACHELLA- One month after the disappearance of the family that vanished in Mexico, their relatives are holding onto the hope that their loved ones will return home.
"We can't give up, we can't give up," said relative Delphina Layton.
The family is now paying the missing relatives' bills and mortgage, as they wait for answers from investigators.
The family says they still know very little about what happened to Roberto Munoz, wife Cecilia Munoz and grandson Armando Salinas. They do know the three missing Americans were last heard from in Chihuahua Mexico, driving a Green Ford F-150 towards the notorious border town Ciudad Juarez. But, they never made it across the border. The family says their relatives' cell phones are turned off.
The three relatives were expected home on January 7th. For the past month the family called American authorities daily, hoping for some urgency in finding the three missing relatives. But the family says it wasn't until KMIR6 uncovered their story, did authorities begin to return their calls and promise an investigation. Riverside County Sheriffs and the State Department confirm they are investigating the case.
On month after they began their trip back to the United States, the Munoz's bed is still perfectly made and their clothes and shoes are untouched. With no answers, the family isn't planning on giving up hope for the best.
"That is what holds me together is hope," said Priscilla Ramirez, "That's what's holding my family together is hope that they are going to come back," she said.
