Firefighters Train Under Live Blaze
If you were around Rancho Mirage today, you might have seen smoke coming from a fire. Fortunately, this fire was planned.
Cal Fire started several fires today in an abandonded building on Clancy Lane, as part of a week of training. More than one hundred fire fighters are practicing techniques as the battle a live fire.
"It helps us teach fire behavior and what to look for under these paticular fire behavior conditions, under a live building paying attention to the building construction," said Fire Captain, Jeremy Brant.
The training will last all week long, from 8am to 6pm. Residents are invited to watch from a safe distance.
