Stars Out for a Good Cause
PALM SPRINGS- The stars came out Saturday night for the 19th annual Steve Chase Awards Gala. The event helps raise millions of dollars to support to the Desert AIDS Project.
Modern Family's Jesse Tyler Ferguson hosted the event. Megan Hilty from NBC's hit show, Smash, was one of the performers at the event.
"Anything I can do to help fund AIDS research and anything to lend a hand and my voice, I'll be here," said Hilty.
Melissa Etheridge also lent her voice to the cause, as did Glee's Matthew Morrison.
"It's our opportunity to get the message out that AIDS is not over. There's a new infection every 9.5 minutes in this country, so we will always want to get that message out," said David Brinkman, CEO Desert AIDS Project.
Queen Latifah skipped the red carpet, but was inside the event, helping raise awareness for the cause. One of the honorees, actor and entertainment show host, Mario Lopez, was unable to attend due to his production schedule, but sent a video message thanking the organizers for the honor.
