RUSSIA - A powerful blast rocked Russia early this morning causing damage to several buildings.

Bright objects and plumes of smoke were seen in the sky for more than 125 miles.

It is believed the plumes were caused by meteorites.

The falling object created a large shockwave, shattering windows throughout the region and even causing damage to building structures.

Some 500 people were injured, mostly by falling glass.

Scientists are now working to determine if the meteor was connected to today's close passing of an asteroid in space.
