COACHELLA - A man was arrested for pointing a laser at a sheriff's department helicopter.
Yesterday, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department helicopter was assisting the Indio Police Department around Harrison Street and Avenue 53 in Coachella. That's when police say somebody aimed a hand-held laser at the cockpit. 18-year-old Christian Torres, of Thermal, was arrested for pointing a laser at an aircraft.
The sheriff's department wants to remind everybody pointing a laser at an aircraft can temporarily blind the pilot and distract the flight crew.
